On reflection
It occurs that Meatloaf has undertaken not to lie to her, not to forget the way she feels right now, not to forgive himself if they don't go all the way, never to do it better than he does it with her (this is unpleasant on a number of levels, but given that he has not actually gone all the way with her suggests that he is already in need of some expectation management), and finally not to forget everything on the grounds that it was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling.
So, really, he'll do anything for love, but he won't do those.
